Getting Here
Whitstable is easily accessible by road or high-speed train from London. It’s just 7 miles from Canterbury, and 17 miles from Margate, so a visit here can easily be combined with some history or a visit to the Turner Gallery or Dreamland.
If you are travelling to Whitstable by car, it is recommended to choose accommodation with parking.
Whitstable train station is a short walk from the town centre.
Make the Most of your Whitstable Weekend
Here are some of our favourite ways to spend an hour or two:
Take a Dip: Whitstable is wonderfully tidal! For the best swim, aim for 90 minutes either side of high tide. If you're joining us in the winter, we highly recommend bringing along your neoprene gloves and boots for a bracing plunge.
Take a Walk: Head west towards Seasalter and get away from the crowds. Or at low tide, head down near the Hotel Continental and walk out along "The Street"—a natural shingle spit that stretches into the sea. It’s the best place to look back and see Whitstable from a completely different perspective.
Hire a Bike: Enjoy a breezy cycle along the promenade to Herne Bay, or across the historic Crab and Winkle Way to Canterbury.
Get Active: Hire one of the local public tennis courts, or take to the water with a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) or kayak.
Treat Yourself: There are lots of fabulous independent boutiques to explore, especially on Harbour Street.
Indulge: For the ultimate relaxation, book a holistic treatment at Whitstable Yoga & Wellbeing Centre. From massages to specialised therapies, it’s the perfect way to soothe those padel-weary muscles.
